My new bionic eyes

Alright kids, I am now equipped with two super-duper bionic eyes that make me feel like I've never felt before even as a kid. I CAN ACTUALLY SEE! Woo hoo! Only need glasses for reading and am popping into Walmart to pick up a cheap pair today. So far absolutely no complications from surgery. I had some fun on surgery day with a few people in the waiting room with a weird sense of humor like mine ending up laughing our faces off to the shagrin of those around us, the anaesthesiologist with which I had a conversation about natural relaxants like camomile tea, one of the nurses who marked my left eye in the shape of a flower, and, since I was the last patient for surgery that day, my specialist. Kept asking him if he wasn't in a post-lunch sugar crash, did he need a nap?, how was his energy level? All in all a great day and perfect success.

Next doctor to torture me will be my dentist as I broke off a piece on one of my molars. Just wish I had had a bit of peace between tortures. Ah, the joys of getting older.

  1. Wonderful!

Sorry to hear about your tooth, though. Can they reattach the part that broke off?

    1. No Lori, I'll have to put a crown on it since it has a large filling inside which is still intact, lol. From my carb eating days all my teeth have fillings. They are just deteriorating much slower now that I'm eating vlc.

  3. Congrats, Horf! I also enjoy perfect vision now - my husband presented me for 50 years birthday with a vision-correction surgery because my prescription for glasses started to be boo strong and most nice-looking frames were not suitable any longer.
I get my reading glasses in a dollar store.

    1. Went to Walmart today to buy reading glasses but couldn't find what I wanted. I'm allergic to metal so I have to find something plastic. I'll keep looking. They're probably everywhere but I've never noticed before because I didn't need them.

  4. Hi Horf, brilliant news about your eyes.....and I'm sure you'll find a suitable pair of glasses for reading.
Shame about your tooth but I'm sure your dentist will sort it.
There's always something the older we get ...but hey that's life.

    Take Care

    All the best Jan

  5. Having bionic eyes is definitely not a paleo practice. If you want to follow successfully the way our ancestors live - forget about modern dentistry, surgeries, quality skin care, hair coloring with something what really works and opting for a stylish haircut

    1. Galina, if I had been following a paleo lifestyle from birth maybe all this would not have been necessary. I do try to keep modern dentistry and medicine out of my life as much as possible but 55 years of modern eating has taken it's toll and even though I am now eating as I should, not all the damage can be reversed. Hopefully I'll live my remaining years in relatively good health without sitting in a wheelchair and drooling into my lap.

    2. I have read in several memoirs of the people who had encounters with real Native Americans - everybody testified women were aging fast. Steffanson said the same about Inuits. May be they were healthy and for sure free from modern diseases, and maybe only very hard work and breathing smoke from an open fire made them age at such rate, but I think we have a better life now , everything considering. We would be breathing wood smoke everyday if we were living even 100 years ago. I wouldn't need a modern dentistry if I started my life without any access to sweets and a white bread, not that liberal amount of it. I ate much less junk during my life-time than most people who discuss nutrition now , it could be much worse if I were living in a more progressed society.

    3. I don't know the answer to that. The aging could be due to environmental conditions such as strong winds at all times of the year, strong sunlight in summer, darkness in winter and not having air-conditioned cars to get around in when doing household purchases.
